  • How can I determine if my device is a Pocket PC?
    • Please contact the manufacturer of your device to determine if it is a Pocket PC. (As a general rule of thumb, if you can use a stylus with your device, it is a Pocket PC or Pocket PC Phone.)
  • Why am I unable to see the Applications on my Pocket PC?
    • If you are unable to see the Application on your Pocket PC, an error probably occurred during installation. Verify that you have downloaded and are installing the Application specifically for the Pocket PC (http://www.westtek.com/pocketpc). If by mistake, you have installed an Application for Smartphone, you will need to uninstall the program from your Pocket PC first (see following question for the steps). Once these Applications are removed you may then reinstall the proper Application for the Pocket PC.
  • How do I uninstall the Applications from my Pocket PC?
    • To uninstall an Application from your Pocket PC go to Programs/Settings/System/Remove Programs and make sure you remove the appropriate Westtek Applications listed.
  • Can I install to the storage card on my Pocket PC?
    • Yes. For ClearVue 3.0.543, ClearVue Applications can be installed to either main memory or the storage card. When installing to the storage card, most files are stored to the storage card but a few required files will be stored in main memory.

For ClearVue 3.0.523 and older, installation to the storage card is not supported.

For JETCET 4.1 and older, installation to the storage card is supported. When installing to the storage card, most files are stored to the storage card but a few required files will be stored in main memory.
  • How do I copy files to my Pocket PC?
    • 1. Connect your Pocket PC to your desktop PC using Microsoft® ActiveSync®.
      2. Verify that File Conversion is turned off in Microsoft ActiveSync. (See steps below in next question.)
      3. From Microsoft ActiveSync on your desktop PC, click on the Explore icon. This will bring up your Pocket PC folders.
      4. Copy the files from your desktop to the desired location on your Pocket PC.
  • I have copied files to my Pocket PC. Why can I not see some of my files from the ClearVue Application?
    • The files you copied to your Pocket PC may have been converted. ClearVue Applications do not support files that have been converted to Pocket Applications (Pocket Excel, Pocket Word or Pocket PowerPoint®). Follow these steps to make sure conversion is disabled before copying files to your device. Or, make sure the files have been saved in the My Documents directory.

To Modify ActiveSync File Conversion Settings:
      1. Connect your Pocket PC to your desktop PC. (ActiveSync will run and establish a partnership with your device)
      2. From the ActiveSync main window on your desktop PC select the Tools menu.
      3. From the Tools drop down menu select Options
      4. The file conversion settings are located on the Rules tab by selecting a button entitled Conversion Settings.
      5. Select the Desktop to Device tab in the File Conversion Properties dialog.
      6. Select the Microsoft Word Document file type from the list, and press the Edit button.
      7. In the Convert to mobile device files of the type drop down list, select (No conversion) (*.doc) and select the OK button.
      8. Select the Microsoft Excel Worksheet file type from the list, and press the Edit button.
      9. In the Convert to mobile device files of the type drop down list, select (No conversion) (*.xls) and select the OK button.
      10. Select the Microsoft PowerPoint file type from the list, and press the Edit button.
      11. In the Convert to mobile device files of the type drop down list, select (No conversion) (*.ppt) and select the OK button.
      12. Select the OK button to dismiss the File Conversion Properties dialog.
      13. Finally, select the OK> button to dismiss the Options dialog.
  • How can I configure my Pocket PC to automatically download email attachments when I connect?
    • 1) From the Microsoft Active Sync Window on your desktop PC go to Options
      2) Select the Sync Options tab
      3) Highlight Inbox and click on Settings
      4) From the Mail Synchronization window make sure that you check Include File Attachments and enter the attachment size limit.
      5) If you still can not launch the viewer by clicking on the attachment, you can do tap-and-hold on the email. From the context menu, click on Mark for Download. Then sync the email again.
  • Why am I getting the following error message when trying to open email attachments from my Pocket PC? Error Message: The file specified is an invalid file format or could not be opened.
    • For attachments you need to verify that the attachment is completely downloaded to your Pocket PC. When the attachment is completely downloaded you will see the ClearVue icon for that file type.

      To download individual email attachments:
      1. From the Mail on your Pocket PC, open the email with the attachment.
      2. Select Mark for Download in the content of the email message.
      3. From the Menu menu, select Send/Receive.
  • Why am I having trouble viewing my PDF files?
    • Some faxes/scanners convert single pixel images to CCITT Group 3 or Group 4 format then they are stored internally in the PDF file format (in other words, the document gets converted into a tiff image, then stored in the PDF file). These formats are not currently supported by ClearVue PDF.

Encrypted files are also currently not supported by ClearVue PDF 2.41 and older. When a file is encrypted you should get a warning from ClearVue PDF that the file format is not supported. You can check if a PDF file is encrypted by opening the PDF file from the desktop and checking the Security setting from File/Document Properties/Summary. In addition, a PDF with a security setting is not supported by ClearVue.

As of ClearVue PDF 3.0.523, PDF files using the Adobe Standard 40-bit encryption are supported, but files using 128-bit encryption or password protection are not yet supported.
  • Why am I unable to see my files from ClearVue Image?
    • ClearVue Image supports JPG, PNG, GIF and BMP file types.

To view image files from ClearVue Image:
From ClearVue Image select File/Browse. From the Browse window you need to highlight the FOLDER where your images are located and click the OK button on the top right (DO NOT click on the folder to open it). For example if your image file is located in /My Documents/image1.jpg, then you would highlight the 'My Documents' folder and click the OK button to view the image files in that directory.
  • How do I print my files from ClearVue?
    • To print ClearVue supported file types you need to make sure that you are using version 2.41 or newer of ClearVue for the Pocket PC and that you have installed JETCET PRINT for the Pocket PC. Alternatively, if you purchased ClearVue 3.0 Professional and installed the included Printing drivers you can print from ClearVue 3.0 Professional Applications.

To print ClearVue supported file types using JETCET PRINT or ClearVue 3.0 Professional:
      1. Open the document from the ClearVue Application (ie for a .doc file open ClearVue Document)
